Shirley Scott & Clark Terry: Soul Duo LP VRC Edition
Available for active Verve Record Club subscribers only. Click HERE to subscribe to Verve Record Club.
Released on Impulse in 1966, Soul Duo brought together Shirley Scott—the Queen of the Organ—and flugelhornist Clark Terry for their only album as co-leaders. Having appeared together earlier that year on Scott's Roll 'Em: Shirley Scott Plays the Big Bands, the two musicians found an easy rapport, pairing Scott's blues-rooted Hammond B-3 grooves with Terry's effortless swing. Also featuring drummer Mickey Roker alongside bassists George Duvivier and Bob Cranshaw, who split duties across the session, Soul Duo remains one of the overlooked recordings in Scott's catalog. This Verve Record Club pressing marks the album's first appearance on vinyl in 54 years.
